Ralph Bakshi’s Coonskin at Quentin Tarantino’s Festival

This Friday and Saturday in Los Angeles: A rare screening of Ralph Bakshi’s most controversial and mind-blowing film, Coonskin (AKA Streetfight) on 35mm. This 1975 film features tour de force animation by Bakshi’s crew of veteran animators who came up working for the classic studios in the ’40s and ’50s.
The screening copy is Quentin Tarantino’s personal print, as this is part of his extensive festival of grindhouse pictures at the New Beverly that has been going on for weeks. It is a triple bill both nights, check the theater page for details.
