Ryan Fortney Zine

I met Ryan Fortney at UArts where he is currently a student and he gave me this swell zine about gettin’ sweaty with Richard Simmons. Well I hope I didn’t ruin the end for you, but you can see it on Ryan’s Flickr pages.

Farel’s Pop Gun War

Floating World in Portland, OR is doing a Farel art show that opens up June 3rd which features the art of the new Pop Gun War book and special small-run serial issues of the comic’s progress in letterpress covers. I’ve got one of these special Pop Gun War books here and I’m lovingly dragging the inked grooves depressed in the the thick paper stock across the single hair that grows off the tip of my nose, absorbing the delicate tactile nature of this hand-crafted masterpiece with all the sensitivity of a butterfly’s wing catching the wind of a baby’s breath. Hey! Farel also has revamped his website. Check both that and the Floating World page for lots of images and Farel news. Read new Pop Gun War pages right now, on Arthur!

Isam Prado Art

Hey wow, check out Isam Prado drawing the cover to the previously mentioned Fake Heads anthology (which I also have here in the MoCCA sack), and check out these inventive drawings over on his blog and deviantart thingy, and his website which also has an animation demo reel and more art!

Kat Morris Sketchbooks

Kat Morris is the animator behind this featured short over at Cartoon Brew, part of the Fake Heads comics crew which includes yesterday’s featured Krause bro, and an avid sketchbook user. See her blog for further proof.

Will Krause Comics

Known as one half of one of NYC’s several brother-teams of animators, (his bro is Fran), Will Krause made this little comic book called Mystery Closet, with sweet letterpress covers. It’s a true story that will take you beyond the walled-off depths of the mystery closet and the human psyche.

Josh Burggraf Comics

Still digging through the MoCCA 2010 bag! Josh Burggraf was a contributor to the first Meathaus collaborative collage zine experiment, Melting Pot, and he stopped by at MoCCA with his book 2010 with comics in three inks about different dudes doing different things including a blue thingy becoming a prostitute. Also he showed off his zine, Mongoloid Diner. He’s got a Flickr area.

Renata Liwska and Mike Kerr

Renata Liwska and Mike Kerr Illustration

Sometimes stuff is super fun enough to re-post from other art blogs. It is a practice I generally try to avoid so as to not be redundant. Each blog has its own aroma and flavor. Anyway this Drawn! post reminded me of the fine work of Renata Liwska and Mike Kerr, wife and husband team with tasty illustration flavors of their own, and multiple interesting websites to eyeball. Mike has a blog, Renata has a blog. Besides all that, After Art College is an inspirational and instructional (for those willing to learn by example) blog for young artists as they attend and graduate art school and begin their professional lives. It is managed by Mike.

Letter to Meathaus: Lala

Lauren “Lala” Albert sent over her new comic book called Yonic Clonic and the End of the Universe she just put out in April. She describes it thusly:

“…It’s about an all-girl intergalactic cartoon band called Yonic Clonic.”

Thanks Lauren! Check out Lauren’s website, and here is where we previously posted her work.

Letter to Meathaus: Vezun

Vezun, who was in Meathaus: Headgames (#8), sent over A.M. #3, a black and white and color zine with comics and drawings. He writes:

“P.S. I was in Meathaus #8″

Haha yeah we know! Thanks Vezun.

Guillaume Singelin Art

All right! Check the art blog of Guillaume Singelin for pages and pages of cinematic sketchbook drawings and studies, many cartoons and comics. Then look at the portfolio for much more.
