Categories Video Grande Days Post author By Chris Post date July 22, 2010 4 Comments on Grande Days It’s a great day for Rob Tyner of the MC5 singing “Grande Days” solo on the autoharp! ← Ben Goss Art → Amazing Facts Comics 4 replies on “Grande Days” I love me some 5 but I honestly thought Tyner was yet another R’n’R casualty of the ’70s. What does it say about me that I like it? Maybe not visually but it still has a bit of that Tyner kick to it if you close your eyes. Also, I love that when my kids watch these old throwback clips. They feel like MC5 primer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3dFYsrGw5eI No, you’ve nailed it. See the Youtube comments for more of the same sentiment. This video is the real deal, he’s singing with conviction, and it’s beautiful. Then go on Youtube and see the Rob doing weak covers in the early ’90s and the “kick” isn’t there: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t9YZv4MXRN0 Yeeeesh. To be fair I never thought the 5’s covers were never their strongest work. Their original stuff had way more life. I love ’em but they weren’t even close to Brown’s high water mark on “It’s a Man’s Man’s Man’s World”. That said, it wasn’t to that bad either. That sounded more like what I feared when I saw Tyner in the post. There’s no denying that that is bludy good stuff. looks like a crac head but sings like an angel ha ha Leave a Reply Cancel replyYour email address will not be published.Comment Name Email Website Save my name, email, and website in this browser for the next time I comment.
