Sammy has been a big presence in the small press comics world over the last decade because of his multi-pronged attack of editing Kramers Ergot, creating his own books and comics series, and co-running retail and film venues that serve as real world spaces for art collaboration and exhibition of all kinds of media, including comics of course. His efforts in curating and promoting the kinds of work that he is excited about have pushed many obscure artists into wider circulation. During all of this activity he hasn’t had much of a dedicated personal website, but now he does. More comics from Sammy are available to read on What Things Do. Also Sammy and Dan Nadel of Picturebox recently announced via this trailer that a new issue of Kramers will be published this fall, including work from Dash.

Hector Dexet makes animation and sent over a note to check out his blog where you can find more fun drawings in both digital and analog varieties.

Helios Wilson Levick sent over a package full of photocopied drawings and comics and a letter that reads:
“Hello Meathaus, I have admired you from afar and for sometime now ( I think I was first introduced in 2004, when I found a link to you from Esao Andrews’s site (a site I had found linked from a post on an online forum)), and the variety of art & comics I have been exposed to thanks to you, have been largely instrumental to my artistic growth! This folio of photocopies has been sitting around waiting to be sent for probably six or seven months. Tonight is my last night in this house (eviction) and the intensive process of packing up and otherwise dealing with all of my crap, is the driving force behind me actually sending this. Also the reason why I scratched out the return address. I have a tumblr, where I was posting daily drawings and downloadable albums of my music, and although lack of interest has put it on hiatus, you may still find it engaging: fantardmagnus.tumblr.com. Anyway, I enjoy what you do and have done and I hope you like my art, Helios”
All right thanks for the words and drawings, Helios. I checked out your blog and it is active again since you wrote this letter which is excellent news. It also appears you have a new place to draw, according to the video. Thanks for the drawings and the super tiny half inch wide zines and the drawing of Gnarly Wang, the only superhero with a gnarly wang. I really got into doing close-up shots of the endless line drawings.

Meghan Jean has a lot of high profile, super-fine work under her belt, but these sketchbook pages and experiments above really stand out as vital and exciting images to me. Check her website.

From what I gather from her Flickr stuff, Lauren Utter really likes to party, drink Old E, collect AAAHH REAL MONSTERS paraphernalia and draw neat stuff.

Eleanor Davis has years worth of fantastic work stashed on her website and sketch blog.

Inés Estrada (website/blog) sent over these preview images of her upcoming split show with Sean Chao called “Blithe Spirits” which has an opening reception on Saturday, June 11 from 6:30-10pm at Giant Robot 2 in Los Angeles.
