Letter to Meathaus: Mike Shea

Letter to Meathaus: Mike Shea

Mike Shea sent Meathaus over a envelope with some comics and a zine of these super detailed drawings of all these clusters of people and things doing stuff and a deluxe print of Lil’ Wayne in the future and a note that reads:

“Dear Meatteam, Big fan of your haus right here. Your RSS is one of my first-peeped links every day and is a constant source of inspiration, enjoyment, and delight. I hope you enjoy my arts as well, I put a lot of time and effort into them with my hands and brain. Love, Mike Shea”

Thanks Mike! See more mike here.

Letter to Meathaus: Ryan Abb

Letter to Meathaus: Ryan Abb
Vain Glory

I’m usually pretty good at internet sleuthing, finding your website, your blog, more if needed. But I can’t find anything to link you to related to this black and white photocopied comic, Vain Glory, that arrived a month or two back at Meathaus HQ from Ryan Abb. So here is the cover and first three pages for your reading enjoyment of this apparently stream of consciousness story starring Belfis and Daze Angel. If you can locate Ryan Abb of Baltimore, MD area, maybe you can get a copy of this too.

Sam Vanallemeersch Drawings

Sam Vanallemeersch Drawings

Sam Vanallemeersch, don’t you ever stop being a shining golden diamond star. (EDIT: OK I’ll take out the part about being dipped in inky gouache-honey. That started to read a little bit off…) It’s outrageous for me to present these drawings so small here, so you just have to take a look at the source, Sam’s drawings, and illustrations, and more. Previously posted about here and here. Oh yes, did I hint that there was going to be a new issue of GO FOR THE GOLD! soon yesterday? Well Sam has got some drawings in it.

Slowness

gftg4

It has been a little slow around here for posting on the Meatlog recently because it has been very busy otherwise preparing for you something that is fantastic.

George Mellor/Sister Arrow

George Mellor / Sister Arrow

Look at this work by George Mellor/Sister Arrow over here. One of the above plant prints was available from Landfill Editions, although it appears to be sold out. They have another green and black print available by Sister Arrow.

New Tim and Eric Website

New Tim and Eric Website

Yes! New Tim and Eric website is up for your eyeballs.

New Limited Print From Tomer

New Limited Print From Tomer

Launching today in Tomer’s print store is the new limited-to-forty-five-prints-edition “From God’s Mountain IV”, which is a 13″ x 19″ giclee print. Tomer’s portfolio is here and he blogs here with twin-bro Asaf. Did you know that he also has compiled an informative FAQ in lieu of being able to respond to all the individual student requests for interviews? It’s better this way, we all can read it. While we’re at it, might as well link back to Nate Williams’s educational post about being a successful illustrator, which Tomer often refers to students.

Comic Con Books

Comic Con Books

At the San Diego Comic Con thing there will be the premiere of the two books above at the Chronicle Books booth, #1506. On the left, Rebus by James and on the right, Sasquatch’s Big Hairy Drawing Book by me.

Sasquatch original art raffle

Chronicle has a special Comic Con page set up here with 25% off and free shipping on these books plus information on when to hang out with the author/artists they have scheduled. That page mentions “daily raffles”. One of your daily raffles will be this very, very sad original art of Sasquatch from my drawing book. All you have to do is show up at the booth and write on a raffle ticket to get a chance to win this original, sad ink drawing. It’s already sitting somewhere in California waiting for you!

Sasquatch from above

Just keep an eye out above your heads. When you see this guy peering down on you from above somewhere, you’ll know you are in the right place. (He shaved his mustache.)

EDIT: I was emailed this action last night from the SDCC set-up:

Altered States of America

Altered States of America

Click over to Matthew Newton’s Annals of Americus to peep the series “Altered States of America” which will be posted daily in July. It’s short stories by Matthew paired with artwork by Mike Reddy. Mike also blogs here and has a selection of work here. I really like the Annals of Americus description:

“Annals of Americus is a digital journal documenting art, culture, and politics in post-empire America. It’s as much a lamentation of the decline of Western civilization as a love letter to its undying promise.”
