Hey! Will Tom be the first Meathaus dude to win an Oscar? I mean, sure, we’ll all get Oscars eventually, but Tom’s work on “Thank You” is one of the qualifying shorts selected this year according to this post. There’s a few more rounds of this and that to get through before being one of the nominated shorts. Nice work!

Check out this new interview with Brandon over at CBR where he discusses writing the new iteration of Rob Liefeld’s comics series Prophet and collaborating with artist Simon Roy.

Above is a drawing by Farel that he doodled up while visiting with Brandon, and then Brandon later colored it, according to his latest blog post over here.

GFTG!4 contributor Jesse Balmer sent over a package with a comics anthology called CHAMELEON and a collaborative comic, Demon God Goblin Heaven by Jesse and Jonny Negron, which is a collaborative match that melts minds. Jesse illuminated the envelope and both books with drawings and a very kind message. Thanks Jesse and Jonny, these publications are tight, pervertedly demented, super funny and interesting. Jesse’s contribution to CHAMELEON #1 has a Usagi Yojimbo flavor to it, with added hyper violence and dripping psychedelia.
According to Jonny’s blog, the next issue of CHAMELEON will be pumping out in December! Excellent contributors in both issues! Get yourself copies of all these books.

Dang I’ve got a couple overwhelming packages to post today. First up we have a seriously generous stash of comics sent over by Kevin Czap and a letter that explains it all:
“Here’s a bunch of stuff that my pals and I have been working on over the past year. PUPPYTEETH is a group anthology I started with Liz Suburbia to give us all an outlet to print our stuff. Waffles is a little porno I did recently and The Velvet Ants is my version of a 7 inch single.
Cyanide Milkshake is Liz’s zine and it kicks a lot of ass. The three other minis of hers are brand new and some of my favorite comics. Mia Protasi is by my brother.
Anyway really love the Meat Blog – one of my top resources for new and weird stuff. It’s definitely contributed a lot to expanding my palette, so I’m eternally grateful (also, thanks so much for letting me take part in the Melting Pot zine). Hope you like ‘em! Take care, Kevin Czap“
Thanks for the load, Kevin! Outstanding, these books are full of funny drawings and ideas. On first glance I love the Czap bird headed people and the Suburbia parody ads especially. Got to read the rest. Glad the Meathaus website is useful. Check out more from this comics crew at the above links and get copies of PUPPYTEETH and links to the associated artists here.
To all peoples of all nations: I wrote and illustrated this drawing book that Chronicle Books just published, and it is called Sasquatch’s Big Hairy Drawing Book. Kids and adults have been drawing on it and showing me a bunch of their weirdo drawings. You can too, and I’ll stash them over here.
I am giving away a free copy to three of you meathaus.com readers, and I’ll leave it blank or sign it or draw on one of the pages if you want. I recommend being lucky and winning one for free or buying some too because they are cheap gifts. To possibly win one, all you have to do is comment anything on this post before next Monday, the 21st of November when I will use the power of atmospheric vibrations to select three random winners. Make sure to fill in a real working email address in the appropriate field when you comment. It will not be publicly visible but that is how you will be contacted if you win.
This is a book based on the premise that drawing is fun and that everyone can do it. Besides all the swell things people have blurbed about it so far, here is a recent short review. Most importantly, here are some of the latest masterpieces that I have received, the top four from the Eidson family and the bottom from Q-train and mom:

I’ve previously mentioned that now in the digital age we have instant access to loads of the neat visual stuff that the government has been commissioning for its own purposes. Artists can use any of the material without fear of rights conflict or resorting to a fair use defense because the work is in the public domain. Today @USGS on twitter, the U.S. Geological Survey mentioned that you can download print resolution files of aerial photography and more here. The above image is of the neighborhood that I live in in Philadelphia, resized smaller here. The original was 5000 by 5000 pixels, which is almost 16 inches square at 300ppi. I bet you could stitch a few adjacent images together and go super large. Awesome. You know how interesting Google Earth and Maps are? Well here’s all the same stuff without their watermarks all over everything, and they’re for you to have and use.
