Earlier today, Chang Park invited Mu Pan and me to his illustration class at Pratt Institute for a mid-semester crit. Chang started a demo using acrylic inks to paint a cardinal on a gessoed, cradled board. After the initial form was blocked in (pic 2), Mu took over and finished the image by painting in the fine details (pic 3). All the other artwork you see was done by Chang.
The ever prolific and prodigious Mu Pan invited us over to his Brooklyn studio for a sneak peek at his new work for his upcoming solo show at the 3rd Ward in Brooklyn, NY. His large scale watercolor paintings have a dizzying array of colors and patterns and the minute detail in each one must be seen in person. His show is set to open on March 23. Come to experience the subversive chaos.
