Letter to Meathaus: Fat Ben

Check it out, Fat Ben sent Meathaus this stuffed package of items and a note that reads:

“Hi Meathaus,
Here’s the new issue. Also included is a re-print of a ‘from memory’ book my buddy and I did 10 years ago.
Enjoy, Fat Ben”

The new issue being of course Kleavage, Fat Ben’s variety zine of drawings, fold out pages and little bits of stories from a group of contributors. Thanks, Fat Ben. This old re-print zine is funny too. It’s called The Cyclone is Cheating (One Hundred Drawings of “Taz” From Memory), collected by Ben Klevay and Martin Weiland. Inside there are one hundred shitty drawings of Taz (I assume, who’s going to count?) It is an impressive collection. See previous letters from Fat Ben on the Kleavage tag and head over to his website for more info on how you might acquire these items or become friends with Ben and get involved with his publications somehow. I was going to link the words “his website” to his website but I forgot that Fat Ben isn’t that easy to find on the internet, you’ve got to work for it. So instead I’ll send you to Ben’s Instagram where it appears there is a lot of fun, novelty sign painting going on, and you can see some Kleavage items in the mix.

Letter to Meathaus: Fat Ben

Fat Ben sent Meathaus another issue of Kleavage and some stickers and a yellow letter that reads:

“Hello Meathaus,
Hope you are well and busy. I am both. Here is the newest Kleavage. Thank you for describing it as a variety zine. I like the sound of it. People ask what the theme is and there isn’t. Variety works. Thank you for posting and your support. Cheers!
Fat Ben
fatkleavage@gmail.com”

Well all right Fat Ben, thanks for these items! There’s nothing better than drawing, so a drawing zine or zine full of drawings is really high up on the list of the best stuff. I’ve scanned the table of contents page above too so you can investigate some of these contributing artists further if you want to dig into the world of Fat Ben and friends. See more previous letters of Kleavage here.

FATBEN sent Meathaus another package with Kleavage in it, the new issue of his drawing and variety zine, and a nice card that reads:

“Hello Meathaus,
Check out my Kleavage.
FATBEN”

Well thanks FATBEN for this new ish. I enjoyed reading the two page koala-cuddling letter from your friend Nick and looking at your drawings and other drawings like Thug Bugs above by Carl Herse. I know I mentioned there was no way to connect with FATBEN for any reason on the last two letters, but now you can totally ‘reach out’ and ‘get in touch’ with FATBEN’s official Kleavage email (fatkleavage@gmail.com), which no one has ever used ever, according to the inside back cover.

Letter to Meathaus: Fat Ben

Meathaus received the latest issue of Kleavage (No. 11) from Fat Ben and a note that says:

“Hi Meathaus,
Here is my new zine.
Enjoy,
Ben”

Thanks for the Kleavage, Ben. Here is a previous one Ben sent. This copy has mostly drawings with some writing here and there and a few additional contributors, but mostly Ben. There is even a center fold-out illustration of a dude doing something satanic. I especially like this spread with the Roxy Music album cover and that girl who killed the Piñata. Still no evidence of a web thing for me to link you and Ben up together on the internet, but he’s out in Los Angeles making zines so go find him.

Letter to Meathaus: Ben

We got this envelope from Fat Ben with KLEAVAGE in it and a letter:

“Dear Meathaus, Your site is inspirational. Here is the newest issue of my zine. KLEAVAGE. This is #10. I hope you enjoy it. Regards, Ben”

Thanks, Ben, I am liking the way these drawing ink jet prints lay down on this newsprint paper, it pleases me. We can’t find a website to link you to Ben or his KLEAVAGE, but just know that he is out there on Laveta Terrace, Los Angeles, making this zine and making these drawings.
